NEW YORK -- Tajikistan's envoy to the United Nations (UN) urged the world body to co-ordinate the fight against terrorism, Asia-Plus reported Wednesday (October 3).
Mahmadamin Mahmadaminov addressed the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly in New York Monday (October 1).
Efforts to fight terrorism and violent extremism "should be focused on the elimination of the military infrastructure of international terrorism, on depriving it of political, military and financial support; on prevention of the use of the ICTs [information and communication technologies] for radicalisation of minds, recruitment and propaganda of extremism and violence", he said, according to the Tajik mission to the UN's transcript of his prepared remarks.
Mahmadaminov urged a "comprehensive settlement" to the crises in the Middle East and Afghanistan.
