BATKEN, Kyrgyzstan -- Kyrgyzstan's State Committee for National Security (GKNB) recovered a car buried allegedly by members of a terrorist organisation in Batken Province, AKIpress reported Wednesday (October 24).
The perpetrators used the car while robbing wealthy individuals in 2015 before sending the funds to terrorist groups fighting in Syria and Iraq, according to the GKNB.
Authorities found the car 3 metres underground, said the statement, which added that the perpetrators buried the car back in 2015.
The suspects are accused of abducting an Osh Province resident and forcibly taking $1.3 million (90 million KGS) from him. The victim himself had smuggled the money into Kyrgyzstan.
Authorities have relaunched a suspended investigation of that case.
