Kyrgyz, Kazakh officials meet in Astana to discuss security issues

ASTANA -- Representatives of the security councils of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan met in Astana Wednesday (November 7) to discuss combating illicit drug trafficking and cross-border crimes, AKIpress reported.

Besides those topics, the participants brought up combating religious extremism and terrorism and increasing trade between the two countries.

The two sides stressed the need for more security co-operation.

The next such meeting is scheduled for next year in Kyrgyzstan.
