Tashkent sees drop in crime for 2018

TASHKENT -- Crime fell dramatically in the first 10 months of 2018 in Tashkent compared to the same period in 2017, Turon.uz reported Tuesday (November 27) citing Tashkent police.

Robberies decreased the most dramatically in Tashkent, with 40 cases in 2018 compared to 115 in the same period in 2017 -- a 65% drop.

The improvements in crime statistics in the Uzbek capital can be credited to the launch of "round-the-clock patrols conducted jointly by police, the National Guard and citizens' patrol groups", said Tashkent police spokeswoman Irina Saifutdinova.
