New development plan implemented for North Kazakhstan Province

PETROPAVLOVSK, Kazakhstan -- Kazakh officials are implementing a three-year development plan for North Kazakhstan Province, Kazinform reported Thursday (December 27).

Under the plan, the Kazakh government will allocate 300 billion KZT ($800 million) to make various infrastructural and other improvements in the province, including the construction of 3,000 houses throughout 302 villages. The effort is set to begin in 2019, with 600 houses expected to be complete within the first year, according to North Kazakhstan Governor Kumar Aksakalov.

The plan, drafted at the instruction of President Nursultan Nazarbayev, is especially aimed toward rural settlements.

The plan also covers the repair of almost 600km of local roads, water supply connections for 94 villages and the purchase of 4,000 computers for schools throughout the province, said Aksakalov.
