Kyrgyzstan creates position of business ombudsman

BISHKEK -- Kyrgyz Prime Minister Muhammedkaly Abylgaziyev signed a decree to establish a business ombudsman to defend businesses against government agencies violating their rights, 24.kg reported Tuesday (January 8), citing the government press office.

To protect the independence of the non-governmental post, international donors, rather than the government, will finance its work. Citizens of any country are eligible to serve.

The ombudsman's term is five years. Nobody may serve more than two terms consecutively.
