Kyrgyz authorities arrest suspect accused of fighting in Syria
BISHKEK -- Kyrgyzstan's State Committee for National Security (GKNB) arrested a Kyrgyz suspect wanted for fighting in Syria, 24.kg reported Monday (February 11).
The suspect allegedly traveled to Syria in 2015, where he joined an international terrorist organisation and fought against government forces, according to the GKNB.
He later was sent to one of the member countries of the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation (SCO), which includes China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The GKNB last week detained a foreign citizen in southern Kyrgyzstan for alleged membership in an international terrorist organisation.
