Tajikistan reveals extent of corruption-related cases in public sector, banking

DUSHANBE -- The Tajik Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption in a report Tuesday (February 12) publicised corruption-related crimes committed last year, Asia-Plus reported.

Employees of the nation's banking sector, including state-run and private banks, last year committed 305 corruption-related crimes.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection saw more than 100 corruption cases by its own employees, the Ministry of Education and Science 96 and the State Committee for Land Management and Geodesy 88.

Meanwhile, local government officials committed 232 such crimes.

Authorities also registered 62 cases of nepotism by senior officials who hired close relatives.
