BISHKEK -- Kyrgyzstan's State Committee for National Security (GKNB) detained a Kyrgyz national accused of belonging to an unspecified international terrorist organisation, 24.kg reported Wednesday (February 13).
The 28-year-old man fell under the influence of recruiters from that group in 2014 while he was studying at a religious institution abroad. He and his family later travelled to Syria, according to the GKNB.
The suspect underwent combat training at a militant camp and fought against the Syrian government, said the GKNB, adding he was arrested in Kyrgyzstan.
