TASHKENT -- The Central Bank of Uzbekistan Saturday (February 16) said on its Telegram account that it will issue a new 100,000-UZS banknote dedicated to Mirzo Ulugbek, the 15th-century scientist, astronomer and mathematician.
The new banknote, which will be issued starting February 25, will have a raised element enabling blind users to recognise its denomination.
The bill will be worth about $12.
The new banknote will become the largest denomination in Uzbekistan, Radio Free Europe Radio Liberty reported Monday (February 18). A 50,000-UZS banknote began circulating in August 2017.
