OSCE supports women's empowerment in Kazakhstan

NUR-SULTAN, Kazakhstan -- The Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the Union of Women Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan are set to hold a roundtable discussion on promoting women's economic empowerment, said the OSCE in an undated statement.

The event, which will focus on women in rural areas of Kazakhstan, is scheduled for Thursday-Friday (March 28-29) in Shymkent, South Kazakhstan Province.

Forty-five participants from parliament, Shymkent city hall, civil society, and a women's rights governmental commission are expected to discuss challenges in regards to women's political participation and the economic competitiveness of businesswomen.

The event is part of the OSCE's efforts to promote gender mainstreaming and women's economic empowerment in Kazakhstan.
