KABUL -- Afghan President Ashraf Ghani Sunday (March 31) discussed the peace process with a delegation from Uzbekistan led by Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov, TOLOnews reported, citing the Afghan Presidential Palace.

"Uzbekistan is ready to host the talks if the Taliban is ready to directly talk with the Afghan government," Kamilov said.

Relations between the two countries are better than ever and the implementation of joint infrastructural projects will further build those ties, he said.

Ghani welcomed Uzbekistan's willingness to host peace talks and underlined Uzbekistan's role in Afghanistan, especially in the implementation of economic and infrastructural projects.

In 2017, when Ghani visited Uzbekistan, the two sides signed more than 20 agreements, including on the economy, transit, security, energy, agriculture, health and higher education.
