By Dzhumaguly Annayev

ASHGABAT -- An Afghan delegation led by National Security Adviser Hamdullah Mohib arrived in Ashgabat June 22 to discuss economic projects, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The two sides discussed the ongoing construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) natural gas pipeline, as well as power transmission lines and fiber-optic communication among countries in the region.

The members of the Afghan delegation expressed their appreciation to Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov "for advancing international initiatives to improve the condition of the neighbouring country [Afghanistan] peacefully, as well as for the tireless efforts to rebuild the state", said the statement.

The participants discussed security issues as well, said a source at the Foreign Ministry.
