NUR-SULTAN/TASHKENT -- US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale is set to hold talks with senior government officials in Tashkent and Nur-Sultan Tuesday to Friday (August 20-23), according to the US embassies in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

He will discuss co-operation with officials of both countries, said the embassies using the same statement Monday (August 19).

In Uzbekistan, security, education, and trade are on the agenda, said the statement.

During his visit to Nur-Sultan, Hale and Central Asian foreign ministers will hold a high-level meeting in the C5+1 format on joint efforts "toward a better-connected, more prosperous, and more secure Central Asia", the statement said.

"C5+1 is a format for dialogue and a platform for joint efforts to address common challenges faced by the United States and the five Central Asian states," according to the US State Department.
