By Alexander Bogatik

ASTANA -- Kazakhstani President Nursultan Nazarbayev June 8 declared June 9 a national day of mourning for the six Kazakhstanis who perished in the June 5 terrorist attacks in Aktobe.

Terrorists attacked two gun stores and a National Guard base, hoping to steal weapons. Security forces killed 13 of the attackers and are pursuing six others, according to AFP. They have made nine arrests, according to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL).

"We will always take the firmest measures to crush extremists and terrorists," Nazarbayev said in his statement, which his press office posted.

The terrorists took orders from abroad, he said.

Nobody has made a "credible" claim of responsibility for the violence, according to RFE/RL.
