49 militants, 3 soldiers killed in Afghanistan

KABUL -- Afghan troops recently killed at least 49 militants nationwide, media reported.

Three Afghan troops were killed in the fighting.

At least 49 militants were killed, as well as three Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers, in a 48-hour span, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said in statements June 9 and 10, the Afghanistan Times and Pajhwok Afghan News reported.

Local civilians recently captured the Taliban shadow chief for Balkhab District, Sar-i-Pul Province, Asadullah Khuram, a member of the Sar-i-Pul provincial council, told Pajhwok Afghan News June 9.

Abdullah was admitted after sustaining injuries in an explosion, the MoI said.
