Afghan forces kill 52 militants, including shadow governor

KABUL -- Afghan forces recently killed at least 52 militants, including a shadow governor, in nationwide fighting.

A recent air-strike killed at least 25 Taliban in Bala Bolok District, Farah Province, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said June 14, according to Khaama Press.

Troops killed at least 12 militants recently in Logar Province, including the Taliban shadow governor of Logar, provincial governor Halim Fedai said June 13, according to the Afghanistan Times.

Another recent operation killed at least 15 Taliban in Dand-i-Ghori District, Baghlan Province, the MoD said June 13, according to Khaama Press. A Taliban judge was wounded in the operation.

Security forces are clearing the Kunduz-to-Takhar highway of militants, TOLO News reported, quoting Kunduz provincial police chief Mohammad Qasim Jangalbagh.

They have cleared six villages of insurgents so far, he said.

Militants recently took about 200 hostages from buses and vans on the highway and killed at least 12 of them.
