OSCE helps train Kyrgyz prison staff

BISHKEK -- Ten staff members of the Kyrgyz State National Security Committee (GKNB)'s remand prisons June 10 finished a two-week course on improving prison service standards, the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) said in a statement that day.

The course, which the OSCE and GKNB co-organised, was meant to enhance Bishkek and Osh remand prison staffers' capacity to carry out their duties in accordance with "criminal legislation and procedures", the OSCE said.

Attendees heard 12 lectures on topics like "military security and ethics".
