DUSHANBE -- A court in B. Ghafurov District, Sughd Province, June 7 sentenced seven imams-khatibs from B. Ghafurov District to various prison terms for membership in the banned Muslim Brotherhood, AsiaPlus.tj reported June 15, quoting a source in Tajik law enforcement.
Police arrested the seven in March. The Muslim Brotherhood has been prohibited in Tajikistan since 2006.
The imams' sentences ranged from three years to three years and four months.
The imams preached to their congregations to go fight in Syria, authorities said, according to Fergana News.
