Kyrgyz host conference on fighting extremism through communication technology

ISSYK-KUL, Kyrgyzstan -- A hundred participants from 20 countries June 16-18 attended a conference in Issyk-Kul on "international co-operation in countering terrorist and extremist organizations through the use of modern communication technologies", the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) said in a statement.

The OSCE, the Bishkek-based NGO Civil Initiative on Internet Policy Public Fund, the CIS Anti-Terrorist Centre and the Kyrgyz government organised the event.

"To prevent and counter terrorism effectively, we need collaboration among all state institutions and public authorities, as well as partnerships with civil society organisations and businesses," OSCE official Manuel Marion Mainer told Central Asia Online.
