Balochistan violence kills 8 Pakistanis; 6 TTP commanders join peace process

QUETTA -- At least five terrorists, one Frontier Corps (FC) member and two children were killed in separate violent incidents in Balochistan, while 30 militants from the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) surrendered in Kurram Agency.

A June 19 security operation in Awaran District, Balochistan, killed five terrorists, a security official said, according to Dawn.

The FC member was killed during a search operation in the Mir Pur area of Balochistan, official sources said, according to Dawn. Security forces detained seven suspects after the fatal shoot-out.

In Sohbatpur District, Balochistan, a roadside bomb June 17 killed two children, security sources said, according to Dawn.

Meanwhile, deceased TTP chief Hakimullah Mehsud’s brother Ejaz and uncle Khair Mohammad were among 36 militants, including six commanders, who surrendered in upper Kurram Agency June 18, Dawn and Geo TV reported.
