Pakistani forces kill 3 criminals, arrest 14 suspects in Karachi, Punjab

KARACHI -- Pakistani authorities killed three suspected criminals and terrorists and made 14 arrests in Karachi and Punjab recently.

Sindh Province Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police June 21 in Karachi arrested a suspected manufacturer of suicide vests and killed two members of a banned extremist outfit in a shoot-out, Geo News reported.

One of the dead extremists was involved in assassinating Swat peace militia members and security personnel, the CTD said.

In another recent encounter in Karachi, police killed a key Lyari gang member, Allah Bux, alias Chahu, the police said. He was involved in more than 20 slayings, they added.

Police in the Metroville area of Karachi recently arrested 10 more suspected criminals.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Province CTD recently arrested three suspected Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) members accused of planning to bomb a shrine in Bahawalpur District, the CTD said in a June 20 statement.

The police recovered two bombs and 2kg of explosives from the suspects, the statement said. They made the arrests in Bahawalpur.

A bomb June 19 on the outskirts of Peshawar injured four police officers on patrol, Dunya News reported.
