Kyrgyz discuss border security on TV

BISHKEK -- Kyrgyz TV July 7 aired a "TV bridge", a live discussion between audiences in two studios, on border security, the State Border Service (GPS) said in a statement.

The TV programme was part of Barrier-2016, a tactical training exercise for the GPS. Participants included local government officials from Osh Province, who asked questions of members of parliament, federal government officials and top GPS leaders. Topics included co-operation among security forces and work on securing borders.

GPS chief Abdikarim Alimbayev informed the other TV show participants of measures that the GPS was taking to fortify the borders with Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. They include the construction of more GPS outposts.
