2 Kazakh police officers die from Almaty attack injuries

ALMATY -- Two Almaty police officers wounded in the city's deadly July 18 terrorist attack recently died in the hospital, Almaty police said August 1, according to Radio Free Europe/Liberty (RFE/RL).

The deaths of Serik Abildayev and Meirambek Rakhmatullayev bring to eight the number of people killed in that day's shootings in the Kazakhstani financial capital. Rustam Kulekbayev, 26, is accused of opening fire at a local police station and an office of the National Security Committee (KNB). He faces charges of terrorism and murder.
