Kazakhstan prolongs 'yellow' terror alert through January 15

ASTANA -- The Kazakhstani government is prolonging its code yellow (moderate) terror alert nationwide through January 15, the country's Anti-Terrorism Centre said in an official statement posted August 15.

The government imposed the terror alert on June 6, originally for 40 days, one day after terrorist gunmen attacked two gun stores and a military base in Aktobe. The gunmen killed either seven or eight Kazakhstanis, depending on the source.
