Tajik border guards learn about patrolling and leadership

Staff Report

DUSHANBE -- Twenty Tajik border guard officers September 6 graduated from a four-week-long course in patrolling and leadership held at the Gissar Training Centre, the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) said in a statement that day.

The participants ranged in rank from warrant officer to captain. They learned about "communications, analysis, provision of first aid and pathfinder and observation missions, including the use of topographic maps, satellite imagery and other tools", the OSCE said.

The OSCE also taught them about gender mainstreaming and de-mining awareness.
