DUSHANBE -- Tajik President Emomali Rahmon recently signed a decree on conducting the military draft in October-November, AsiaPlus.tj reported September 10, quoting Rahmon's press office.
The decree turns troops who have completed their conscription requirement into reservists, while ordering 18-year-old men into the military. The decree also applies to older men who lack or have lost their draft deferment or draft exemption.
Tajikistan conducts the draft twice a year. It borders Afghanistan and has repulsed several attempts by Afghan drug traffickers this year to cross into Tajikistan.
