Kyrgyz president, military chief discuss security

BISHKEK -- Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev October 4 in Bishkek conferred with Raimberdi Duishenbiyev, chief of the military General Staff, on security matters, Atambayev's press office said in a statement.

Duishenbiyev informed Atambayev of the strengthening and development of the country's armed forces. He described the military's work in protecting the border.

Atambayev said during the meeting that it was essential to keep increasing the military's combat readiness.
