Kyrgyz journalists learn to cover extremism, terrorism

BISHKEK -- More than 20 Kyrgyz journalists October 21-24 in Chon-Kemin, Chui Province, attended the second stage of a journalist training workshop on how to cover security and extremism stories and to protect themselves, the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) said in a statement.

The reporters came from four different cities, according to the OSCE. Other topics in the training included digital security, Kyrgyz laws on extremism, and the collection and verification of facts.

Law enforcement officials spoke during the seminar about the difference between terrorism and religious extremism.
