OSCE hosts Dushanbe discussion of foreign fighters

DUSHANBE -- The Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Border Management Staff College in Dushanbe October 24 hosted a roundtable on foreign fighters and counter-terrorism strategies, the OSCE said in a statement.

Attendees included "experts, scholars, representatives of government agencies, civil society, diplomatic missions, international organizations and participants of the 16th Border Management Staff Course", the OSCE said.

Participants discussed strategies for preventing extremist recruitment and the flow of foreign fighters to war zones. They also considered "how to counter terrorist propaganda among young people and other vulnerable groups, the challenges in identifying individuals who support terrorism, as well as in detecting foreign terrorist fighters who are returning".
