BISHKEK -- Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev November 19 in Bishkek discussed the police's fight against crime with Interior Minister Ulan Israilov, Atambayev's press office said in a statement.
Israilov described his ministry's activities to Atambayev, including its efforts to protect public safety and to fight crime. They also exchanged opinions on plans to build housing for police officers.
The Interior Ministry (MVD) bears responsibility for planned reforms of law enforcement agencies, Atambayev said, noting that the reforms are meant to wipe out corruption and to increase public trust in the police.
