BISHKEK -- Kyrgyz Interior Ministry (MVD) personnel November 14-17 carried out large-scale counter-terrorism exercises called Operation Arsenal, the MVD said in a statement November 24.
Police searched 230 facilities that store firearms, poisons and explosives, as well as the residences of some private individuals who own firearms.
More than 4,500 police officers and leading citizens participated in the search. The MVD fined 285 firearm owners for violation of storage regulations. It confiscated 304 firearms. Near Kara-Jygach village, Chui Province, police November 17 found a home-made revolver, an F-1 grenade and other munitions.
