Kazakhstan devises new government counter-terrorism programme

ASTANA -- Kazakhstani Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev chaired a cabinet meeting on November 29 in Astana at which officials presented the draft planning document of the 2017-2020 government programme for fighting terrorism, the prime minister's press office said in a statement.

Members of parliament and the chiefs of the Kazakhstani Security Council, National Security Committee (KNB) and other agencies attended the meeting.

The evolving strategy is meant to guarantee reliable protection of individuals, society and state from extremism and terrorism while taking into account new challenges and risks.
