BISHKEK -- Kyrgyz State Border Service (GPS) Chairman Mirbek Kasymkulov, from Saturday through Thursday (December 17 to 22), toured various units and fortifications along the country's borders, the GPS press office said in a statement.

Kasymkulov assessed the work of border crossings and other GPS installations and ordered unit commanders to maintain discipline and security.

In 2016, the GPS was able to reduce the number of border disputes to 12, compared to 22 in 2015, he said, according to the GPS.

"We will continue to enact an array of measures to reduce the potential for conflict along the border," he added.
