ASGHABAT -- The new airport in Ashgabat is showing signs of shoddy construction, such as broken windows and ruptured pipes, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL)'s Turkmen service reported Tuesday (January 17).
A Turkish contractor built the facility, which cost US $2.3 billion (8.1 billion TMT).
The project had some construction deficiencies that might have cost two of President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov's deputies their jobs, RFE/RL reported.
