DUSHANBE -- A Dushanbe court sentenced a local man to seven years in prison for trying to join the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL), Avesta.tj reported Wednesday (February 8).
The defendant, M. Vokhidov, became radicalised through the Odnoklassniki social network while working abroad, the Tajik general prosecutor's press office said.
Vokhidov's online recruiter cajoled him to go to Syria. Vokhidov had agreed to do so when police in his host country arrested him in September. They extradited him to Tajikistan.
