4 drug traffickers killed on Afghan-Tajik border

DUSHANBE -- Tajik border troops last week on the Tajik-Afghan border killed four drug traffickers during three gun battles, Avesta.tj reported Wednesday (February 8), quoting Tajik Border Troops spokesman Mukhammad Ulugkhojayev.

In one shoot-out in Khatlon Province, border troops and State National Security Committee (GKNB) personnel killed one smuggler. The other smugglers fled back into Afghanistan. The Tajik forces recovered 28kg of hashish and a Kalashnikov at the scene.

Two other smugglers were killed in a gun battle with border guards at the Hamadoni outpost. The troops recovered 27kg of hashish.

In a third shoot-out, troops of the Panj border guard unit killed a smuggler. They seized a weapon and 20kg of narcotics.
