Tajiks thwart Afghan drug-smuggling attempt

KHATLON PROVINCE, Tajikistan -- Tajik customs officers thwarted an attempt by an Afghan national to smuggle 3.9kg of metamphetamines into Tajikistan, Avesta.tj reported Thursday (February 23), quoting the Tajik customs service's press office.

Tajik customs officers detained the suspected would-be smuggler, Jamshed Nosir, 25, of Herat at the Lower Panj (Nizhnii Pyanj) customs post in Khatlon Province. They found the drugs hidden in his luggage, according to the customs service.
