TASHKENT -- Uzbekistani law enforcement rounded up 634 wanted fugitives during Operation Sweep Anti-Terror, 1news.uz reported Saturday (March 18), quoting an Uzbekistan National News Agency interview of First Deputy Interior Minister Davron Nazarmukhamedov.
The operation, conducted shortly before Nawruz, involves all branches of law enforcement, adding that authorities nationwide stepped up security at 262 high-traffic locations.
Authorities have been urging the public, particularly in the border zone, to "strengthen vigilance and carefulness", he said.
