Turkmen parliament chooses first-ever ombudsman

ASHGABAT -- Turkmenistan's first-ever ombudsman will be member of parliament Yazdursun Gurbannazarova, reported the state-owned newspapers Turkmenistan and Neitralnyi Turkmenistan Tuesday (March 21).

Parliament chose her from among three candidates nominated by President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov.

Gurbannazarova will be in charge of monitoring Turkmen human rights compliance.
