Pavlodar imams open hotline on WhatsApp

Staff Report

PAVLODAR, Kazakhstan -- Imams at Mashkhur Jusup, the main mosque in Pavlodar Province, have opened a hotline on WhatsApp to answer youths' questions about religion, Muftyat.kz said in a statement Monday (April 3).

So far, the hotline has received 109 questions, which 96 registered users, including imams and teachers, have forwarded from their followers.

Replies come from Khasan Amankulov, the deputy (naib) imam of the Mashkhur Jusup mosque.

Officials hope the hotline will "increase the [religious] knowledge of provincial imams and protect youth from the influence of alien cults", said Nariman Isenov, a Pavlodar Province spokesman for the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan, according to Muftyat.kz.
