Aktobe Province takes steps to protect public from terrorism

AKTOBE PROVINCE, Kazakhstan -- Aktobe Province Governor Berdybek Saparbayev convened a session of the provincial cabinet to discuss protecting residents and guests of the province during Ramadan, Kazislam.kz reported Thursday (June 1), quoting Saparbayev's press office.

During the next few days, "our main task will be to guarantee complete public safety in public places", he told the officials. Ways to safeguard the public include strengthening preventive work among groups considered vulnerable to extremist recruitment, he added.

Police in Aktobe Province arrested several suspected extremists in the past few days.
