Kyrgyz seize 4kg of Afghan opium

Staff Report

JALAL-ABAD, Kyrgyzstan -- Kyrgyz authorities seized almost 4kg of Afghan opium in Jalal-Abad Province Sunday (June 11), the Interior Ministry (MVD) said in a statement Monday (June 12).

The drug bust resulted from the joint work of the MVD, State National Security Committee (GKNB) and State Customs Service. Authorities found the opium hidden in the residence of a Suzak District man.

Finding the opium broke up a cross-Kyrgyzstan drug trafficking route, said the MVD, adding that the suspect (the Suzak District man) is a convicted drug offender.
