NEW YORK -- Officials from US and Uzbekistani businesses signed deals worth $2.6 billion (21 trillion UZS) at the US-Uzbekistan Business Forum, held in New York Wednesday (September 20), CA-News.org reported, quoting the Uzbekistani government press office.
Participants in the forum Uzbekistan included Boeing, Coca-Cola and General Electric. The deals cover oil and gas, machine building and other industries. Officials from the two countries also signed an agreement to open a branch campus of an unnamed American university in Tashkent.
The forum occurred one day after Uzbekistani President Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the UN General Assembly.
Among other benefits, the deals aim to stimulate economic growth and create more jobs in Uzbekistan.
