TASHKENT --- Uzbekistani President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and US President Donald Trump spoke over the phone Tuesday (December 19) to discuss bilateral co-operation and international and regional issues, reported UzDaily.com.
The US supports Uzbekistan's reforms to foster the rule of law, develop strong civil society and liberalise the economy, Trump said during the conversation, according to Mirziyoyev's press office.
Uzbekistan's support for Trump's South Asia strategy and US efforts in Afghanistan also came up for discussion, said a White House statement.
The two leaders agreed that their meetings in Riyadh in May and New York in September had helped to strengthen relations between their countries.
Trump invited Mirziyoyev to make an official visit to the US, and the two vowed to build up their strategic partnership.
