Major Uzbekistani mosque opens bookstore


CHIRCHIK, Uzbekistan -- The Markazii (Central) Mosque in Chirchik, Tashkent Province, has opened a bookstore to promote reading and religious education among youth, according to the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Uzbekistan (DUMU), reported Tuesday (December 19).

The books on sale will cover fields like religion, education, literature, culture and upbringing.

Khairullo Turmatov, chief imam of the province, attended the store's grand opening. Books are true friends for devoted readers, he said.
