ASTANA -- Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan launched a bus route Friday (January 5) between Shymkent and Tashkent, according to the Kazakhstani Ministry of Investments and Development, Kazinform reported.
The buses will operate hourly from 6am to 8pm, according to the ministry. Travel time is four hours.
Customs and border processing for the buses will be expedited.
Authorities this year plan to inaugurate more bus routes between Kazakhstani and Uzbekistani city pairs after 17 years without bus service between the two countries.
