Kyrgyz lawmaker convicted of coruption

BISHKEK -- A Bishkek court Thursday (January 4) convicted a Kyrgyz member of parliament of corruption, reported AKIpress.org.

The Pervomaiskii District court in Bishkek sentenced Kanat Isayev to 12 years' imprisonment for abuses during his time as mayor of Tokmak.

In 2010, Isayev oversaw the sale of a library building to private interests for far below market price. He was charged last November with inflicting great damage to state coffers.
