BERLIN -- Central Asian states are viewed as being among the world's more corrupt countries, according to the annual ranking report by Transparency International.

The anti-corruption NGO released its Corruption Perceptions Index 2017 Wednesday (February 21). The ranking is based on a weighted analysis of surveys and reports and lists countries by their "perceived levels of public sector corruption".

Out of 180 listed countries, Kazakhstan ranked 122nd, Kyrgyzstan 135th, Uzbekistan 157th and Tajikistan 161st. High numbers indicate more corruption in the survey.
