DUSHANBE -- Uzbekistani manufacturers are set to take part in a trade exhibition in Dushanbe March 9-11, Asia-Plus reported Monday (March 5).

Sixty Uzbekistani companies will take part in the expo, which is scheduled for the Manej Sports Complex in the Tajik capital, according to a statement by Tajikistan's Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Tajik and Uzbekistani business leaders are expected to sign contracts on the sidelines of the exhibition.

The Tajik-Uzbekistani inter-governmental commission for trade and economic co-operation signed an agreement January 10 in Dushanbe on holding mutual exhibitions in the two countries' capitals.

The exhibition will coincide with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's state visit to Tajikistan, scheduled for March 9-10.

Relations between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have been on the upswing since Mirziyoyev came to power in Uzbekistan in 2016. Tajikistan's State Committee for Statistics reported about $126 million in trade between the two countries last year.
